Yesterday, 21 Maryland clergy members and religious leaders joined Congressman Elijah Cummings in Prince George's County for a rally in support of U.S. Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
"We, who stand together today and in the weeks to come, are committed to a movement for progressive change," Cummings said. "We understand what Senator Barack Obama understands that it is no longer acceptable simply to change parties and change leaders - unless those changes result in positive changes in people's lives. We are supporting Senator Barack Obama because we believe that he can unite this country in a spirit of constructive, bipartisan reform."
Cummings will be heading a similar event in Baltimore on Monday.
Obama last made a public appearance in Maryland at an October 10th rally at Prince George's Community College in Largo.
