Offshore Drilling
Speaking of 50 miles off shore (which is debatable itself), there are also whales, migratory birds, and countless other marine species at the same distance out. It would be nice if MD considers the treasures it has, and works to make environmentally sound decisions first. In the same light... I hope that Maryland's legislators consider environmental implications in all their decisions (including voting AGAINST a border fence through wildlife refuges, as well as drilling for oil in wildlife refuges).

Offshore platforms are 50 miles off the coast. The human eye can see, at best, 12 miles out to sea. After that, the curvature of the earth and the shortcomings of human vision take over. Whether you are for or against offshore development, this cartoon is laughable.
