SEIU COPE adOn Monday, the Service Employees International Union's Committee On Political Education launched new advertisements attacking Fourth District Rep. Al Wynn’s ties to energy lobbyists and incumbency.
The ads attack Wynn for exotic junkets, pay raises, House members’ $165,000 salaries and alleges campaign contributions from oil and gas companies influenced his votes. His 15 years in office are stressed in the casino-themed ads, which also promote his opponent, Donna Edwards.
An accompanying press release from labor and progressive groups announced an “extensive campaign” on Edwards’ behalf.
The coalition includes ACORN, EMILY’S List, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, SEIU, Sierra Club and UFCW Local 400 — claiming a combined membership of more than 50,000 voters in the district.
“The effort will include talking to voters face to face, on the phone, on the radio and on TV about the importance of supporting Donna Edwards on February 12,” they said.
