The Democratic National Convention will be called to order at 5:00 PM EST today, with a theme of "One Nation."  Featured speakers include Michelle Obama, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.), former President Jimmy Carter, and Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, who will introduce a tribute to her uncle, U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.). 

Says Obama Effectively Reversed 'The Race Card' On Clinton

Yesterday on the Fox News Channel, former Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R) weighed in on the Rev. Jesse Jackson's vulgar, unwittingly public comments about his frustration with Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)

Jackson, having been miked shortly before appearing on Fox News on Wednesday, made the comments while unaware that he was being recorded.

"See, Barack's been, um, talking down to black people on this faith based. he said. 'I want to cut his [EXPLETIVE DELETED] off. Barack -- he's talking down to black people."

Jackson offered an apology for the statement when he learned that Fox News would be airing it.

Appearing opposite of the Rev. Al Sharpton on the 'Hannity and Colmes' progam, Steele said that while he feels really bad for Jackson, who he described as "a good friend," he added, " The real question is why did he think that?"

Consider this piece to be my no confidence vote in Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson (D). OK, to be fair, I never had confidence in Johnson in the six years he has been county executive. Thankfully for the first two years of his era, I lived on the Anne Arundel side of Laurel.

First let me discuss the main reasons that he was elected. In 2002, he was elected on his campaign to root out police corruption, in addition to being in a very crowded field to succeed Wayne Curry (D). Candidates that year included council member Jim Estepp, former delegate the Rev. C. Anthony Muse and then-delegate Rushern Baker III. Two years ago, Johnson won by running (literally) from Baker.
