Wynn is a bad example of so-called 'Elders' inabilities

Open Left blogger Matt Stoller uses the results of the Fourth District primary to make a point about the existence of Democratic 'Party Elders' and their ability to put a kibosh on the presidential nominating race this June.

If [Speaker Nancy] Pelosi and her Congressional allies endorse Al Wynn and Wynn gets blown out by around 20 points in a Democratic primary, what does that suggest about the hold and loyalty these elders have on Democrats?

But the difference is that the Democrats these 'Elders' seek to influence are not rank-and-file members with a secret ballot; but elites who can easily be punished for open intransigence.
